KHLY (1440 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Hailey, Idaho. The station is currently owned by Scott Parker, through licensee Sun Valley Media Group, LLC.[1]

History

The station's first callsign was KBET, issued on January 25, 2002.[2] The station was originally issued its broadcast license on December 1, 2005, with Pocatello, Idaho as its original community of license.

On December 18, 2008, radio industry website 100000watts.com reported that the then-KPTO had gone silent the preceding day, though no explanation was given for this.

On May 29, 2009, the Fifth District Court in Washington County, Utah appointed a receiver to take over KPTO for US Capital, Incorporated of Boulder, Colorado. The investment company foreclosed on Legecy Media, the owners of KPTO and several other stations. The receiver sold the station to Ted Austin's Main Street Broadcasting, LLC in a District Court-approved sale, which was conditioned upon the FCC renewing the station's license. Main Street paid $41,000 in a transaction that was consummated on November 19, 2013.

KPTO was sold by Main Street to Freedom's Voice Broadcasting Corporation, co-owned by Tim Aalders and Anthony Bean, in a transaction that was consummated on May 16, 2014. The price paid by Freedom's Voice Broadcasting was $75,000. Shortly thereafter, Aalders assumed control of the station through his fully owned licensee Freedom's Voice Radio LLC. Aalders paid $32,000 for KPTO in a transaction that was consummated on June 17, 2014. Effective March 27, 2017, Aadlers sold the station to current owner, Sun Valley Media Group, LLC, headed by Scott Parker, for $22,000.

The station changed its call sign to KHLY on September 12, 2019, and changed its community of license from Pocatello to Hailey on May 11, 2020.
