Lakis Nikolaou (Greek: Λάκης Νικολάου; born 17 July 1949) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is the current Medical Director of AEK Athens.

Club career

Born on the island of Ios, Nikolaou played mainly for AEK Athens forming a powerful defending duo with Petros Ravousis.[1]

International career

He made his debut for Greece on 8 September 1973 and played a total of 15 games.[2] He was a participant at the 1980 UEFA European Football Championship.

Other activities

Lakis studied medicine in University of Athens while still being a professional footballer and managed to become a successful medicine professor and surgeon (with speciality in orthopedics). He later became doctor of AEK Athens and Olympiakos On 13 October 1997 he became AEK Athens' thirty fifth president, serving from 1997 until 1998.[1]
