RIB Software SE is a Germany-based multinational company providing construction and building information modelling (BIM) software to customers in the architecture, engineering, and real estate industries. RIB's iTWO is a cloud-based Big Data BIM 5D enterprise solution[buzzword] for building and construction, creating a working method that integrates 5D virtual construction into physical, covering processes from end to end.

History

RIB was founded in Stuttgart in 1961 and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2011.[2] RIB's headquarters is located in Stuttgart, with over 30 offices and around 800 employees worldwide. RIB topped the 2016 German SME TOP 100 list.[3] RIB Software AG entered into a European Stock Company (Societas Europaea, SE) in April 2017, and now trades as RIB Software SE.[4]

Products

RIB provides software to large construction companies, developers and owners, architectural offices and engineering companies, and to the process industries. The products of the Group are used by more than 100.000 users around the world. Most of those users are based in Germany.

  • iTWO 4.0 - Integrated 5D end-to-end big data BIM solution. Flagship of the RIB group, and named best construction software several times. iTWO 4.0 Covers Project management and documentation, Project estimation, sales management, procurement, Logistics and resource management, real estate management and facility management.
  • iTWO Site - Mobile solution of iTWO 4.0. Available for Apple and Android for both mobile phones and tablets. Concentrated in the day to day construction site processes.

Acquisitions

In 2012, RIB made three acquisitions: firstly, it purchased Memphis, Tennessee, United States-based estimating software business, MC².[5] Secondly, on 30 September it announced that it had taken a majority stake in Sydney, Australia-based project management software company, ProjectCentre.[6] Lastly, RIB acquired the controlling interest of U.S.COST in November.[7]

In August 2013, RIB acquired a majority stake in Cosinus Informationssysteme GmbH, a provider of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.[8]

In 2014, RIB acquired Denmark-based SaaS construction collaboration technology provider Docia,[9] and a 75% stake in Iceprice, provider of an E-Commerce platform for the building and construction industry.[10]

In July 2015, RIB acquired Spanish construction software company Soft SA.[11]

In February 2018, RIB acquired 100% of the shares of Exactal Group Limited, a Hong Kong-based software producer for the construction industry.[12]

In November 2018, RIB acquired SaaSplaza, a global cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) focusing on Microsoft technologies, with offices in Amsterdam, Munich, Toronto, San Diego, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney.[13]

In June 2019, RIB acquired BSD, a US-based provider of construction specification data.[14]

In August 2019, RIB made a strategic investment into Winjit, a leading IoT, AI, ML, and Blockchain software provider, with offices in US, South Africa and India.[15]
