She took a degree at Derby University in Occupational Therapy which became her job when not playing rugby.[1] Thompson works as an occupational therapist for 2gether NHS Foundation Trust.[2]

She debuted in a match against Spain in the 2012 European Cup.[1] She was a member of the English 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup squad.[3] Her World Cup was cut short after she suffered a groin injury.[4][5]
