Zacarías Supisiche (1843 – 1897) was an Argentine military man who served in the main Argentine military campaigns that occurred towards the end of the 19th century. He took an active part during the Guerra del Paraguay, Conquista del Desierto[2] and the Revolución del Parque.[3]

Biography

He was born in Buenos Aires, the son of a distinguished family. He did his primary and secondary studies in the city, and began his military career around 1865, serving as alferez during the Paraguayan war.[4] Years later he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, serving in the Conquest of the Desert as the commander of the 3rd Battalion Infantry.[5]

In 1882 Supisiche was promoted to colonel, being part in the expedition of the Chaco, led by Benjamín Victorica in 1884.[6] A year later was promoted to General de brigada.

The General Zacarías Supisiche had been the commander of troops loyal to the government, during the days of 26, 27 and 28 July 1890, in the civic-military revolution against President Miguel Ángel Juárez.[7]
