Stefan Kovač (Serbian Cyrillic: Стефан Ковач, pronounced [stêfaːn kǒʋaːtʃ]; born 14 January 1999) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Serbian SuperLiga club Čukarički and the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 national team.
Stefan Kovač started his professional career at IMT Belgrade, on loan from Red Star Belgrade U19, and moved to Čukarički where he currently plays.[1]
Club career
Early career
Born in Belgrade, Serbia, back then capital of FR Yugoslavia, Kovač started playing football in the youth academy of the Red Star Belgrade football club. Later he joined IMT Belgrade on loan from Red Star.[2]
In January 2019, Kovač signed with Čukarički. He made his professional debut for Čukarički against Voždovac in a comfortable 3-0 win on 24 February at the age of 20. On 1 May, he scored his first professional goal, scoring twice in the same game.[2]
International career
Kovač represented Bosnia and Herzegovina on all youth levels, starting with U15, U17, then U19, and is currently part of a U21 team. He scored twice, once as a member of a U17 team, which was his first goal for the national team, adding second and providing an assist while being a part of the U21 in a 3-2 win against Belgium on 17 November 2020.[2][3]
