In Japanese mythology, Ame-no-hohi (which means Heavenly grain sun)[1] is the second son of Amaterasu.[2]
In some myths he was sent the first to be sent to earth to rule[clarification needed] after his brother Ame-no-oshihomimi refused the offer. However, when he didn't return after three years they sent another god to rule.[3]
Ame-no-hohi is believed to be the ancestor of the Izumo no Omi.[4]
