Paul Adriaan van Meekeren (born 15 January 1993) is a Dutch cricketer who plays internationally for the Netherlands and domestically for Somerset in English county cricket.[1][2] He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler.

Career

van Meekeren made his debut for the Netherlands in T20I against Kenya. One month later, he also made ODIs against South Africa on 31 May 2013. During WT20 2016 qualifiers, he bowled an amazing spell of 4–11 against Ireland. This is his best bowling figures.[3]

In July 2016, van Meekeren signed for Somerset County Cricket Club on a short-term deal until the end of the season.[4] He later signed a two-year deal with the club until the end of the 2018 season.[5]

In January 2017, Van Meekeren was included in the Netherlands squad for the Inaugural Desert T20 Challenge.[6] Against Hong Kong he broke the record for the highest score by a number 11 batsman in Twenty20 Internationals, 18 runs from 11 balls. He is the only person to score multiple sixes while batting at number 11 in a Twenty20 International.[7]

In July 2018, he was named in the Netherlands' One Day International (ODI) squad, for their series against Nepal.[8] In June 2019, he was selected to play for the Winnipeg Hawks franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament.[9] In July 2019, he was selected to play for the Amsterdam Knights in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament.[10][11] However, the following month the tournament was cancelled.[12]

In September 2019, he was named in the Dutch squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates.[13]

In November 2020, he revealed that he currently works as a delivery boy for the Uber Eats amid the COVID-19 pandemic in order to make money for survival.[14][15]
