Wael Arakji (Arabic: وائل عرقجي) is a Lebanese professional basketball player currently playing for Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut in the Lebanese Basketball League. He is known for his speed and acrobatic finishes at the point guard and shooting guard. He has also played in the 2019 NBA mini camp and NBA summer league for the Dallas Mavericks.
Career
Wael Arakji was a huge standout for the U18 national team in the 2012 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship in which Lebanon finished 7th in the rankings. His individual performance however sparked the interests of Slobodan Subotic who at the time had been appointed as head coach for Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut that year.In 2015 he declared for the NBA draft but was not selected however in 2019 he got an opportunity to play for the Dallas Maverick in the NBA summer League.
