Karunakaran is one of the best directors in tollywood in the present generation. He is the only director who gives same importance to hero and heroin as well as story. Starting from Toli Prema to Darling his presentation of heroins is superb without any vulgar manner. His movies "Toli Prema" and "Ullasanga Utsahanga" are attracted by both class and mass audience and remained as super hits in tollywood history.The good thing is now a days he is the only director whose movie can be watched by entire family without anxiety. |

A. Karunakaran(Born: 1961) is a Telugu film director.
Background
Before coming into Telugu Film Industry, his parents forced him to join polytechnics. After finishing polytechnics in 1989, he went to Madras. He became an assistant director to a few successful directors like Shankar.

Career
Karunakaran's first directorial film was Tholi Prema was a sensational hit. That film enhanced Pawan Kalyan's image as an actor. His subsequent films Yuvakudu, Vasu, and Balu ABCDEFG disappointed at box office. Though they failed at box office, the way he presents the movie is superb. His next film Happy was a moderate success. In his films heroines are given importance and are not shown in vulgar manner unlike many directors. This is really appreciated by Class Audience. He gives much importance to his story & screenplay rather than skin-show. His first movie Tholi Prema is a master piece.[citation needed] Tholi Prema, Yuvakudu, (somewhat)Vasu, and Happy are the examples for the decency he follows.
