Abraham Matthijs (1581 in Antwerp – 1649 in Antwerp) was a Flemish Baroque painter.

Biography

According to Houbraken he was from Antwerp and was a good landscape painter.[1] Houbraken did not know more about him or his date of birth or death.[1]

According to the RKD, his Death of Maria from 1633 still survives in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal.[2] He is mentioned in Cornelis de Bie's book of painters.[3] In his testament he is called a "fijnschilder", known for seascapes and history pieces.[2]
