The Absettarov virus (ABSV) is a strain of tickborne encephalitis virus (Far Eastern subtype) in the genus Flavivirus. It was isolated in 1951 in Leningrad from the blood of a 3-year-old boy with biphasic fever and signs of meningitis. Found in Sweden, Finland, Poland, former Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria and western parts of the former USSR.[1]
