Insignia of a Director General of Police

In India the Additional Director General of Police (ADG) is an IPS officer having a three-star rank. Though having the maximum possible 3-star police rank just like Director General of Police, Additional DGP's are considered junior to DGP's. The equivalent position or designation are Commissioner of Police of some cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, special or additional secretary. The rank insignia of an ADG is the national emblem over a crossed sword and baton.[1][2]
