Agave demeesteriana is a species reported as native to the Mexican states of Sinaloa and Veracruz and reportedly naturalized in Florida.[3][4]

Some sources hyphenate the epithet as "de-meesteriana." The correct spelling is without the hyphen (per ICN 60.9 and 60C.5c)[5]
