Alan Forsyth (born 5 April 1992) is a Scottish field hockey player who plays as a forward for Men's England Hockey League club Old Georgians and the Scotland and Great Britain national teams.[1]

He is the son of Derek Forsyth, the head coach of Scotland.

Club career

Forsyth played from 2014 until 2021 in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Surbiton.[2][3] He then played in the Dutch Hoofdklasse for HGC. After two years at HGC he returned in 2023 to England to play for Old Georgians.[4]

He also played for Scottish club Kelburne Hockey Club.

During this time he has won 6 Scottish League Titles and currently 4 English League titles (3 at Surbiton & 1 at Old Georgians), including many Player Of The Year and Top Goal Scorer awards.

International career

Forsyth made his senior international debut for Scotland in 2009 and as at 25 August 2019 he has scored 83 goals in 138 matches. He has competed in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, Glasgow in 2014, Gold Coast in 2018 and Birmingham 2022 becoming the only Scottish mens hockey player to compete at four Commonwealth Games.[5] He made his senior international debut for Great Britain on 19 October 2015. Securing 53 GB caps and 22 goals. It is widely known that Forsyth has been one of the best strikers GB have had over the years and was under appreciated during his time representing his country.
