Alex Elisala (17 August 1992 – 29 April 2013) was a New Zealand-born rugby league player in the NRL who was contracted to the North Queensland Cowboys at the time of his death. He represented Samoa in 2013.

Playing career

Elisala was a Logan Brothers junior before being signed to the North Queensland Cowboys.[3] He started his Toyota Cup career for the Cowboys in 2010 as a winger and fullback before moving to hooker.[4] Elisala played for the Queensland under-20 side in 2012.

He joined the Cowboys senior squad in 2013. He made his début for Samoa against fierce pacific rivals Tonga on the 20th of April in the Pacific Rugby League International.

Elisala was admitted to Mackay Base Hospital on 28 April and died the following day after a decision was made to turn off his life support.[1]
