Anne-Catherine Berner (born 16 January 1964) is a Swiss-Finnish[1] politician, business executive and the current Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland. She took a Centre Party membership when she was given the minister's post. She was elected into the Finnish Parliament for Uusimaa in 2015. Subsequently, she was appointed Minister of Transport and Communications in May 2015.[2] In earlier elections, Berner who was not a Finnish citizen, was a National Coalition Party campaign financier, especially in favor of Finance Minister Alexander Stubb. Berner was also Laestadian Prime Minister Juha Sipilä's personal choice in government, despite the opposition within the party. Berner got Finnish citizenship right before the parliamentary elections 2015.
Berner has served as chief executive officer for Vallila Interior, an interior design company, since 1986.[3] She got the business from her father. She featured as an investor in the Finnish version of the reality television show Dragons' Den.[4] Berner has also been involved with charity work.[5]
