Ardent Health Services, formerly known as Behavioral Healthcare Corporation is a healthcare company based in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

History

The Behavioral Healthcare Corporation was founded in 1993 by Charles A. Elcan.[1][2] It was a subsidiary of Kindred Healthcare.[1] It operates hospitals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Amarillo, Texas.[1]

By 2001, the private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe became majority shareholders.[3]

The company sold its psychiatric hospitals in 2005.[2] Additionally, it changed its name to Ardent Health Services.[2]

In 2015, Ventas acquired its real estate investments while Equity Group Investments acquired its hospitals, for US$1.75 billion.[4]
