Aslam Kiratpuri, is an Urdu Journalist Artist and the only professional Lahori Nastalique calligrapher in India.[1][failed verification] He has inspired many youngsters to value the art of calligraphy. Aslam Kiratpuri patiently creates his beautiful calligraphic Toghras, intricate works of calligraphy in different styles using verses form the Quran along with various geometric and floral designs. He is the only Lahori Nastalique style calligrapher in India,
Early life
He was born in 1951 at Kiratpur (Bijnour) a small town in Uttar Pradesh. Aslam Kiratpuri interested in calligraphy since his childhood, He learn the basics and finesse of the art from a famous Artist and Calligrapher Faiz Mujjadid Lahori a renowned Calligrapher and Artist. Specializing in different styles of Quranic calligraphy.
Career
He took to it first as a hobby and in 1975 made it a regular profession. In 1979, He was elected as a Founder President of Urdu Calligraphers Association India,[2] By the end of 1982, He published his first Book on Calligraphy " Muraqqa - e - Faiz". In 2005, He was elected as a President of Fankar Art Academy of India. In 2006, Aslam Kiratpuri, Dr. Rehan and Syed Manzar Zaidi Developed a most flexible font called Faiz Nastaliq, Faiz Nastaliq is considered as a panacea for Urdu publishing world. Faiz Nastaliq font is a tribute to his Calligraphy Master(ustad)Faiz Mujaddid Lahori.
