Aung Tun Thet (Burmese: အောင်ထွန်းသက်) is a Burmese economist and presently serves as the Economic Presidential Adviser to Thein Sein, the President of Burma.[1] He is also a visiting professor at Yangon University, Yangon Institute of Economics and the National Defence Academy.[1]

Aung Tun Thet has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rangoon University, a Master of Science in Operations Research from the University of Warwick, and a Ph.D in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester.[1] He is also a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Marburg.[1]
