History
First Azerbaijanis in Canada were the Iranian Azeris, who began to settle in the state back in 1930. The second wave of emigration of Azerbaijanis occurred in 1950, when the power in the Soviet Union came Nikita Khrushchev.

The third wave of migration came in during the Cold War, when immigrants came to Canada from the Soviet Union, including the Azeris. The fourth wave took place after 1979, when Iran had a revolution. Many ethnic Iranians as well as Azerbaijanis, settled in Canada. Finally, the fifth wave of emigration came during the Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1988–1992.
