Bald Rock is a monolith located in the Plumas National Forest, in Butte County, California. It's highest point is around 4,000 ft. There is a short trail that leads through the woods to the rock. Once at the rock, there are no trails so you are free to wander as you please. However, arrows have been painted on the surface in some places showing the way back to the parking lot, because of several people who have gotten lost. The rock is composed entirely of granite. There is also the ruin of a small Indian shelter, made from stacked rocks. There are also several crevasses, and strange rock formations located on the rock. The area is great for hiking, climbing, and rapeling. It is also home to several animal species including, snakes, deer, Mountain Lion, Black Bear, and possibly Wolverine in the surrounding forests, as well as Wild Pigs. Most of these animals are rarely or never seen in the area. Because it's in a national forest, camping is allowed anywhere in the area, as long as you're 300 yards from running water.

Folklore

During Native American times, the cheif of the tribe advised his tribe not to go up there because of an evil demon that lived on the rock. However, there is no demon, and today people beleive the cheif just said that because he wanted to have the place to himself so he could meditate. There have never been any demon sightings on the rock.
