Baldur's Gate is a novel written by Philip Athans in June 1999, based on the role-playing video game Baldur's Gate.

Plot summary

Sabotage in the iron mines of the Sword Coast is pushing powerful nations towards a bloody war, as a young mercenary gets closer to discovering an unimaginable secret.

Reception

One reviewer stated: "I read this novel because I was such a fan of the game and its sequels, so I was hoping for a similar experience with the novelization of the game by Philip Athans. I was totally wrong! This was such a let-down, in many ways."[1]
