Barots in western India (c. 1855–1862)

Barot is an Indian caste native to Gujarat and Rajasthan. While most traditionally worked as poets, teachers, advisors in court of king, priests, genealogists and mythographers, other "clans" also served as mercenaries and hired muscle for nobility.[1]
