Bassiknou Department

Bassiknou Department (باسكنو) is an administrative department of Hodh Ech Chargui Region of Mauritania, lying in the extreme south-east of that country, with an area of 16,500 km2. At the 2013 Census it had a population of 88,432. The administrative centre is the town of Bassiknou (10,561 inhabitants), but the largest town is Vassale (65,927 inhabitants).
