The bergenstest is a test for proficiency in the Norwegian language, with variants available for both Bokmål and Nynorsk.[1] The test is designed for non-native speakers who wish to work to or study in Norway.[2] It is a pass/fail test with written and oral sections which are intended to be passed by someone with an upper intermediate grasp of the language, equivalent to a B2 reference level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.[3] The test is available four times per year, and taking the test costs about 3,000 kroner.[3]
