Bernadette Farrell (born 1957) is a British Catholic hymnwriter whose works have gained popularity among Christians of a variety of denominations. She has composed hymns alone and with her husband Owen Alstott; they live with their daughter, Joanna, in Greenwich, London.[1]

Her music in contemporary Catholic culture

Bernadette Farrell is one of many musicians who compose contemporary Catholic liturgical music. This music has enjoyed widespread success throughout the English-speaking world. Among her best-known compositions are "Christ, Be Our Light", "Restless Is The Heart", "God, Beyond All Names" and "O God, You Search Me".

Awards and accolades

In 2006, both Farrell and her husband Owen Alstott were among the recipients of that year's Pastoral Musician of the Year, given by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.[2]
