Beth Zabdai

Beth Zabdai or Gezireh (now İdil) was a town located on the right hand of the Tigris River, close to Jeziret ibn Omar, now Turkey.

It was the seat of two Eastern Rite Catholic bishoprics.[1]

Notable people

Babai the Great, the pillar of the Assyrian Church of the East, was born in Beth Ainata in Beth Zabdai in 551.
