Bilbster is a quiet rural area in the Scottish Highland region on the A882 road,[1] containing a handful of houses spread over approximately 1 square mile (2.6 km2). The nearest village is Watten, roughly 2 miles away with the nearest town Wick, 5 miles down the road. Bilbster is a farming area. It is a peaceful quiet place. The River Wick a productive salmon river, meanders through Bilbster, its quiet "burble" a relaxing sound on a calm sunny day. Being so far north Bilbster has its fair share of strong winds but the winters on the north east coast are becoming wetter with less snow falls than in the past. A recent addition to Bilbster is three wind turbines.

As small as Bilbster is it was once served by the now closed Bilbster railway station, perhaps an indication of a slightly larger population in days gone by.
