Brian MacCraith

Professor Brian MacCraith is the current president of Dublin City University in Ireland, a faculty which he joined in 1986. He is also the former director of the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute (BDI) in Dublin.

MacCraith, born in Dundalk, Ireland, obtained a BSc in Physics and a PhD on "Optical Spectroscopy of chromium-doped crystal". He has been heavily involved in research into optical sensors and helped to establish the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR) at Dublin City University.[1]
