The British National Committee for Space Research (BNCSR) was Britain's regional membership group of Committee on Space Research (COSPAR).
History
It was set up by the Royal Society in 1958. Its first meeting was held on 4 March 1959 and was chaired by Harrie Massey.
Harrie Massey was also President of the European Preparatory Commission on Space Research.
Function
Most of the Skylark sounding rockets launched in the 1950s and 1960s from Woomera, were launched for the BNCSR.
