College career

For the Texas A&M Aggies he won the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational and finished in the top 10 of six other tournaments.[3]

2017 U.S. Open

At the 2017 U.S. Open, after two rounds, Champ made the cut and was tied for eighth place.[4] He was also the driving leader over the first two days of the tournament.[5] He earned entry in the tournament though sectional qualifying, where he had to compete in a playoff.[6] The 2017 U.S. Open was his first major appearance.[7] He, along with Scottie Scheffler, was one of two amateurs to make the cut.[8] Scheffler finished as the low amateur at 1-under-par, while Champ finished at even-par.
