Canada's Ballet Jörgen is Canada's fifth largest ballet company and the nation's only major ballet company with a repertoire consisting exclusively of original works. It was founded in 1987 by Susan Bodie and Bengt Jörgen and is based in Toronto, Ontario. The company also has hubs in Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Halifax. Many of Canada's Ballet Jörgen ballets have earned national and international recognition propelling the company to the forefront of the North American dance scene.

Performances and Collaborations

Canada's Ballet Jörgen gives over 120 performances a year. The company's annual tours bring ballet performances to over 50,000 people across Canada and northern USA, sharing ballet with more Canadian communities than any other dance company.[citation needed] One third of Ballet Jörgen Canada's audiences at public performances are under the age of eighteen and one-third are attending a dance performance for the first time.[citation needed]

Canada's Ballet Jörgen educational activities range from its long-time collaboration with George Brown College in Toronto to elementary school programming across the country. Its extensive Outreach and Educational programming includes working closely with young dancers and local ballet schools. The company also holds workshops, master classes, school visits and residencies.
