Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin Sohal also known by the name of Yasin Amir Sohal is a Pakistani politician who has been a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018. Previously, he was a member of the Punjab Assembly from 2008 to May 2018.

Early life and education

He was born on 6 September 1965 in Vehari.[1]

He has a degree of Bachelor of Laws which he obtained from University of the Punjab.[1]

Political career

He ran for the seat of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as an independent candidate from Constituency PP-156 (Lahore-XX) in Pakistani general election, 2002, but was unsuccessful. He received 13 votes and lost the seat to Amjad Aziz, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N).[2]

He ran for the seat of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from Constituency PP-156 (Lahore-XX) in by-election held in July 2004.[3] but lost the seat to Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui.[4]

He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-156 (Lahore-XX) in Pakistani general election, 2008. He received 27,873 votes and defeated Malik Asif Jehangir, a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party. In the same election, he also ran for the seat of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as an independent candidate from Constituency PP-155 (Lahore-XIX) but was unsuccessful. He received 53 votes and lost the seat to Mian Naseer Ahmad.[5]

He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-156 (Lahore-XX) in Pakistani general election, 2013.[6] He received 48,227 votes and defeated Ahsan Rasheed, a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).[7]

He was re-elected to Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-162 (Lahore-XIX) in Pakistani general election, 2018.[8]
