Collectors Club of New York
The Collectors Club of New York, founded in 1896, is a group of individuals whose objective is to promote the hobby of philately and to provide a social, educational, and non-commercial setting for those interested in the subject. Previous and current membership includes the best-known philatelic collectors, exhibitors, and authors and while members are mainly from the tri-state area membership is worldwide. Franklin D. Roosevelt and the 26th Earl of Crawford were honorary members.
The club's home is a landmark five-story brownstone located in the Murray hill section of New York City that was redesigned by architect Stanford White in 1902 and houses an extensive philatelic library of more than 150,000 volumes.
The Alfred F. Lichtenstein Memorial Award for Distinguished Service to Philately, established in 1952, is an annual award for outstanding service to philately given to a living individual. Recipients of the award are listed here.
