Crocinitomix is a genus in the phylum Bacteroidetes (Bacteria).[1]
Etymology
The name Crocinitomix derives from:
Latin adjective crocinus, of or pertaining to saffron; Latin feminine gender noun tomix, a string or thread; New Latin feminine gender noun Crocinitomix, saffron-coloured thread.[2]
Species
The genus contains a single species,[2] namely C. catalasitica ( Bowman et al. 2003, (Type species of the genus).; New Latin neuter gender noun catalasum, catalase; Latin suff. -ticus -a -um, suffix used in adjectives with the sense of relating to; New Latin feminine gender adjective catalasitica, relating to catalase, pertaining to the ability of this species to produce catalase.)[3]
