Life and work

Jouseff's parents have their roots in Palestine, and belonged to the Christian minority in the country before they immigrated to Sweden in 1967 to then settle in Skövde. Jouseff was born and raised in Skövde, but works and lives in Stockholm and London. He studied at Chelsea College of Fine Arts, GB, he left after a year to fully devote himself to his own creation.[3]

In Daniel Jouseffs world, imagery often return characters from popular culture and childhood comic books. Not infrequently illustrated conflicts and contradictions between the classic hero and villain, the latter often depicted as the deviant, dark and outcasts. The villain becomes a sort of commentary on how Jouseff always identified himself with the other, and how Western popular culture through its distinct imagery defined ideas of what is good and evil is portrayed. As a social critics, he use social commentary in his art, as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism.

The Joker

Daniel Jouseff's work revolves around power in a world run by money, a world where men in power dominates. Pornography, the Middle East and Sweden are also themes that he naturally returning to, where he also lets his recurrent character, the Joker, move freely.[1]
