History and profile

Demokraatti was established in 1895. The paper is headquartered in Helsinki[1] and is the organ of the Social Democratic Party.[2][3] The paper is published five times a week.[4] In late 1997 another social democratic paper, Turun Päivälehti, merged with Demokraatti, and they began to publish the same material, although Turun Päivälehti preserved its name.[2]

The circulation of Demokraatti was 25,000 copies in 1997.[2]
