Derek Booth

Derek Blake Booth (born 7 April 1953) is an eminent American geologist and heir presumptive to the Booth baronetcy of Allerton Beeches, Liverpool.

Education and career

Educated at Hampshire College, Amherst (BA 1974), UCAL (BS 1978), Stanford University (MS 1980) and the University of Washington (PhD 1984), Booth was Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Earth & Space Sciences at the University of Washington, before working at Stillwater Sciences (later President).[1]

Family

Of Anglo-American aristocratic descent, Booth married firstly 28 June 1981 (divorced 2000) Elizabeth Dreisbach (daughter of Professor Robert Hastings Dreisbach, PhD, MD) by whom he has:

  • Colin (born 3 June 1982), and
  • Rachel (born 3 June 1986).

He married secondly 24 June 2006 Stephanie Louise Moret, MS, PhD and lives in Santa Barbara, California.
