"Dio Portes Echi i Zoi"
Song

"Dio portes echi i zoi" (Greek: Δύο πόρτες έχει η ζωή; Template:Lang-en), sometimes billed as "Tora pou fevgo ap' ti zoi" or "To telefteo vrady mou", is a Greek-language song performed by popular Greek singers Stelios Kazantzidis and Marinella. The lyrics are by Eftichia Papagianopoulos and the music is by Kazantzidis himself. The song was first released on 78 rpm vinyl record in 1959 by His Master's Voice in Greece. The record also contained the song "Madhubala" and sold about 100,000 pieces in its year of release, beating the previous record of 45,000 record sales that Hadjidakis song "Garifallo st' afti" had set.[1][2][3]

Lyrics

To teleftéo vrády mu,
apópse to pernáo,
ki' ósi me píkranan poly,
tóra pou févgo ap' ti zoí,
ólus tus sygchornáo.

Óla íne éna pséma,
mia anása, mia pnoí,
san lulúdi kápio chéri
tha mas kópsi mian avgí.

Ekí pu páo den perná
to dákry ke o pónos,
ta vásana ke i kaimí,
edó tha mínun, sti zoí,
ki' egó tha fygo mónos.

Óla íne éna pséma,
mia anása, mia pnoí,
san lulúdi kápio chéri
tha mas kópsi mian avgí.

Dio pórtes échi i zoí,
ánixa mia ke mpíka,
sergiánisa éna proinó
ki' óspu na 'rthi to dilinó,
apó tin álli vgíka.

My last night
I am living tonight,
and those who made me bitter,
now that I am leaving this life,
I forgive them all.

Everything is a lie,
one breath, one sigh.
Like a flower, some hand
one dawn will cut us down.

There, where I am going
tears and pain mean nothing,
suffering and sorrow
will stay here, in life,
and I will leave alone.

Everything is a lie,
one breath, one sigh.
Like a flower, some hand
one dawn will cut us down.

Life has two doors,
I opened one and entered,
walked one morning
and by the evening
I had left by the other.
