Discovery Gospel Choir remains in 2010 the only established integrated Irish-African gospel choir in the Republic of Ireland. It aims to promote racial justice and integration in everything it does. It also aims to present previously-unknown beautiful gospel songs to the people of Ireland from all over the world.

Discovery Gospel Choir

Discovery Gospel Choir is a Dublin-based, intercultural choir made up of over 30 singers and musicians from Ireland, Africa and across the world.

History

The choir was founded in 2004 as part of the Church of Ireland's 5-year Discovery Project - an initiative to welcome migrants and encourage social integration in Ireland. In 2009 the Discovery Project ended and the choir developed into an inter-denominational, professional choir. It is directed by Róisín Dexter and is partially supported by the Church of Ireland and Dublin City Council.

Discovery Gospel Choir remains in 2010 the only established integrated Irish-African gospel choir in the Republic of Ireland. It aims to promote racial justice and integration in everything it does. It also aims to present previously-unknown beautiful gospel songs to the people of Ireland from all over the world.

Discovery loves working with other artists that share its ethos of unity and has performed with Sinead O'Connor, Foy Vance, Nizlopi, Celtic Woman and Liam Ó Maonlaí. The choir also often works with Kíla.
