History
[edit]The stadium was built in 1959 on the outskirts of Rottach-Egern. It was originally constructed to serve as the home ground for local football club FC Rottach-Egern, who had previously played on various makeshift pitches around the town.
The stadium officially opened in 1961 and has been the home of FC Rottach-Egern ever since.[6] Over the decades, the stadium has undergone various renovations and expansions, including the installation of floodlights in the 1960s to allow for evening matches.
Today, the Stadion am Birkenmoos continues to be used primarily for FC Rottach-Egern's home matches in the Bayernliga Süd, the fifth tier of German football. It is also occasionally used for other local sporting events and community functions.
