The Vincentian Congregation is a Catholic religious order founded in India. It was established on November 20, 1904, at Thottakom by Fr. Varkey Kattarath^[1] and three diocesan priests. Despite dispersal by 1915, a significant revival occurred in 1927, led by Rev. Frs. George Mannara, Antony Pauvathil, and George Vattamkandathil.

Spirit and charism

Inspired by the teachings of St. Vincent de Paul, the Vincentian spirit emphasizes an intimate connection with God, humility in accepting divine will, and an unwavering commitment to serving the marginalized.^[2]

Ministries

Known for its Popular Missions, parish retreats aimed at rejuvenating faith communities,^[3] the Vincentian Congregation also undertakes evangelization efforts, social welfare initiatives, operates educational institutions, and supports diocesan clergy.

Global presence and leadership

With missions spanning Africa, South America, and beyond, and under the leadership of Fr. John Kandathinkara, elected Superior General in 2021, the Vincentian Congregation continues to expand its reach, serving diverse regions across India and abroad.
