Dunn's road guarder (Crisantophis nevermanni) is a species of snake in the family Colubridae. The species, which is monotypic in the genus Crisantophis, is endemic to Central America.
Geographic range
[edit]C. nevermanni is found in northwestern Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, western Honduras, and Nicaragua.[2]
Habitat
[edit]The preferred natural habitat of C. nevermanni is forest, at altitudes of 4–1,385 m (13–4,544 ft).[1]
Behavior
[edit]C. nevermanni is terrestrial and diurnal.[1]
Diet
[edit]C. nevermanni preys predominately upon frogs and lizards.[1]
Reproduction
[edit]C. nevermanni is oviparous.[2]
Etymology
[edit]The generic name, Crisantophis, is in honor of Miss Crisanta Cháves, who was director of the Museo Nacional de Nicaragua for over 50 years.[3]
The specific name, nevermanni, is in honor of German coleopterist Wilhelm Heinrich Ferdinand Nevermann (1881–1938).[4]
