Neighborhoods
East Hartford is home to a diverse mix of neighborhoods. Often times, the entire area is described as "blue collar." In any case, the area is extremely diverse (East Hartford High School, with 2400 students is the most diverse high school in the state). The northeast and southeast sections of the town are suburban and resemble neighboring towns like South Windsor, Connecticut and portions ofWest Hartford. However, much of the town is low income. Neighborhoods like Hockanum in the southwest of the city, Burnside Avenue in the center of the city, and Mayberry Village in the east are on the lower end of the economic ladder, as are the neighborhoods off Park Avenue.
