East vs. West – A Hearts of Iron Game , or EvW, is a grand strategy wargame that is based on the Clausewitz engine. It is developed by Danish independent software developer BL-Logic and published by Paradox Interactive.[2][1] First information on the game were given out on July 2, 2012.[1] It was officially announced by Paradox Interactive on October 8, 2012[3] and is planned to be released in the second quarter of 2013.

As in other games in the grand strategy Hearts of Iron series, East vs. West allows for the player take control of and manage nearly any Cold War era country including its political, diplomatic, espionage, economic, military, and technological aspects. In contrast to the previous instalments in the Hearts of Iron series, the game will not mainly focus on large-scale warfare. The use of nuclear weapons is possible, but limited by a nation's state of emergency.[4] East vs. West is not an expansion for Hearts of Iron III, but a standalone game.[2]
