Edward Atkin is a businessman, investor and entrepreneur based in the UK and was CEO of Avent. His company was acquired by Philips in 2006 for GBP460M.[1] [2][3] His company was then renamed to Philips AVENT.
Career
Edward joined his father's company which was making rubber products for cars in 1972. Since the business was not doing well, he decided to change the line of business to make rubber products for baby bottles and breast pumps, which revolutionized the baby feeding industry[4], making made it one of the successful businesses in the UK.[5].
Awards
He was awarded the IET Achievement Medal (Mensforth Medal) in 2006 and honored by the Queen with a CBE in 2011.[6]
Philanthropy
He establishes the Edward Atkin Foundation [7]. The foundation provides grants to aid engineering education and support for disaster relief. [8] He was among the top 200 donors listed by Sunday Times in 2017 [9]
