Electra is a Cape Verdean electricity and utility company. It was founded on April 17, 1982 (under law no. 37/1982) after the merger of Electricidade e Água do Mindelo (EAM - Mindelo Electricity and Water), Central Eléctrica da Praia (CEP - Praia Central Electricity) and Electricidade e Água do Sal (EAS - Sal Electricity and Water).[1] The address is Rua de Combatadores de Libertadores da Patria, until 2003 when it was widening by a lane each, it was known as Rua do Porto.

The company is based in the capital city of Praia. It is in the neighborhood of Gamboa (aka Chã das Aldeias) and located on the south side of the street dividing the subdivisions of Platô and Gamboa.

Today the government has 51% of its uses.

Its power station is in the western end of the city in the neighborhood of Palmarejo Grande (part of Palmarejo) west of Cidadela, recently solar panels has been installed in the northern part.. The stream named Palmarejo Grande is to the west
