Elias Bickerman was born in Russia on July, 7 1897. He was a leading scholar of Greco-Roman history and the Hellenistic world.[1] His research interests extended to Judaism and some aspects of Iranian history.[1][2] He died in Jerusalem on August 31, 1981.
