EARN (European Academic Research Network) was a computer network which interconnected academic computing centres and provided a gateway between Europe and the USA. It was founded in July 1984 (legally incorporated in February 1985) and based in Paris, France. It shared the same protocols and namespace with the BITNET.

In 1995, EARN merged with RARE to form TERENA.
